A beginning

I have had this account for several years, but never really posted anything. It existed simply to view and respond to others I followed. A very good friend of mine suggested I start blogging, so I'll give it a try.

I'll start with a little about myself. I go by Alex. It is not my first name, but since my father and I share a name, I go by my middle name. I am a Registered Nurse and a Clinical Nurse Specialist. I work in a Cardiovascular ICU on the night shift. I have started the Doctoral program at a local University, with the end goal of being a Nurse Researcher.

I share my life, my house and my heart with my Saudi Arabian partner. He is a doctor and works in the research and development department of a local drug manufacturer. Our relationship is fairly new, but is blossoming into something wonderful. I have already been accepted and assimilated into his family, which has been an interesting experience. I am learning Saudi culture and how I fit in. Every Sunday, we attend a large family dinner at his parent's home. While he is bonding with the men over beers and sports, I am either in the kitchen or talking quietly with the women. My friend pointed out that I am filling the position of a wife. I don't mind this at all and embrace it.

That is enough for now. We are out clothes shopping (he is driving like always) and will head to the family dinner in a few hours. Based on readership and responses, I will either continue to blog or leave the writing to real writers.

Bye for now.

  1. I hope you guys have an amazing time! I plugged your blog so hopefully people read it and HOPEFULLY you share more. I hope the rain doesn't stop your family stuff. I am so jealous that I can't go to a similar thing with Ashkan's family since they're in Iran. I would love to just sit and watch them all, a room full of the people who made him who he is.

    1. We are back home now. It's always a good time and no, the rain didn't stop it. We just didn't do anything outside.

I hope people will read this and are interested in future posts.

  2. Welcome to the online world of autobiographies. I have a soft spot in my heart for police officers, doctors and nurses.

    1. Thank you Chase. I love being a nurse, but very often the profession is under appreciated. I've been able to see and do a lot of really cool things.
